Our traditions are founded on over 25 years of experience, as Professionals in the field of Insurance. Yet we recognise that our future lies in embracing technology and developing new and creative risk transfer services for our client.

Presently our team consists of around 35 trained staff members and our structure guarantees the involvement of our directors and senior staff. We are big enough to deliver but not so big that we become complacent.


Our History

In 1979 this company began its operations in a small office in Flower Road, primarily functioning as Insurance Agents of the Government Insurance Corporations in existence then. In 1988 the liberalisation of the Insurance Industry paved the way for the company formally to operate as Insurance Brokers and Senaratne’s were amongst the very first companies to obtain an Insurance Broking License.

From its beginnings in a small office employing a handful of staff, today Senaratne’s operates from a suite in the Liberty Plaza, Colombo 03. Our highly trained and experienced staff, includes 3 persons who are Chartered Insurance Brokers / Associates of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

We were the first company in Sri Lanka to have been investigated by Lloyd’s of London and found to be a suitable and proper organization to act as a Lloyd’s Cover holder. Thus, we were granted the status of “Lloyd’s Correspondents” in Sri Lanka which in itself speaks for our professionalism and experience in the field of insurance.

We act as correspondent Brokers in Sri Lanka for Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc. and HSBC Insurance Brokers Limited both with head offices in Britain.

Our associate Company Senaratne Financial Services (Pvt) Ltd., provides healthcare services on behalf of BUPA International based in the U.K. whom they represent in Sri Lanka in the capacity of “International Scheme Advisers”. Additionally, that Company also provides international travel insurance on behalf of U.K. based Underwriters.
